Overview
A carrier bag is packaging that leaves with the customer and is often reused for months. That makes it the cheapest advertising most brands buy — and the fastest to embarrass them, because a bag that tears at the handle or the base tells everyone the brand cut a corner.
Yuan Packaging runs a dedicated handbag line built around a KBA 8+2 UV offset press with automated bag forming and post-processing. UV offset matters on bags: it cures instantly, so heavy ink coverage and dark solids can be handled and folded straight away without set-off, which is exactly the specification most luxury retail bags call for.
Handle attachment and base construction are where bags actually fail, so both are specified against what the bag has to carry. Tell us the heaviest item that will go in it and we will recommend paper weight, handle type and whether the base needs a reinforcing board — a bottle bag and an apparel bag are not the same product with different printing.
Explore the range
- Paper Rope Handle Bags — A paper-based handle format for retail programmes that want a practical carrier with a consistent material story.
- Cotton & Ribbon Handle Paper Bags — A softer handle detail for retail and gifting, specified as part of the bag rather than added as an afterthought.
- Die-Cut Handle Paper Bags — A clean, hardware-free handle profile for projects that value a compact flat pack and an uninterrupted bag silhouette.
- Bottle & Gift Set Paper Bags — A carrier designed from the packed bottle or gift set outward, so the bag and the product work as one presentation.
Bag Types & Handles
Twisted Paper Rope Handle
The retail standard, and fully paper-based — the usual choice when the bag has to be recyclable as a single material.
Cotton & Ribbon Handles
Softer hand-feel for luxury retail and gifting, knotted or with a reinforcing patch behind the eyelet.
Die-Cut Handles
Cut directly into a reinforced top fold. No hardware, no attachment step, and a clean flat-packed profile.
Luxury Retail Bags
Heavier board, matte or soft-touch lamination and foil detail — built to be kept rather than binned.
Kraft & Natural Bags
Uncoated kraft with one- or two-colour print, for brands whose positioning is material honesty rather than gloss.
Bottle & Gift Set Carriers
Narrow, deep bags with reinforced bases sized to one or two bottles or a rigid gift box.

Board & material options

Coated One Side (C1S)
Coated on the printing face, uncoated on the reverse.
The default carton and wrap board. You are paying for coating only where the print goes, so it is the economical choice whenever the inside face is not seen.

White Kraft
Strong uncoated white fibre with a natural surface.
Reads honest rather than glossy, and takes one or two spot colours well. Recycled and FSC-certified grades are available where a materials policy applies.

Natural Brown Kraft
Unbleached brown fibre, the recycled-content standard.
The lowest-processing option we stock. Remember that the brown ground shifts every ink laid over it — colours need proofing on the actual stock, not on white.

Textured & Felt-Marked
Embossed linen, laid and felt surfaces.
Carries a tactile identity with no extra finishing pass. Print sits softer on texture — fine detail and photographic images lose bite, so it suits type and blind emboss better than imagery.
Finishing options

Hot Foil Stamping
Metallic foil applied by heated die, registered to the print.
Gold, silver, copper and coloured foils. Applied flat before any wrapping or forming, so registration is controlled on a sheet rather than on a curve.

Embossing
Raised relief pressed into the surface from behind.
Can be registered over foil for a sculpted metallic mark. Sequence matters: emboss after foil is standard, and reversing it damages the foil surface.

Soft-Touch Lamination
A velvet matte film laminated to the printed surface.
Changes how the pack feels more than how it looks, and hides fingerprints on dark artwork. The most requested finish on premium spirits and skincare.

Die Cutting
Custom shapes, windows and cut-outs.
Windows, shaped lids, handle apertures and label outlines. A window can be left open or patched with clear film depending on whether the product needs protecting.
Materials
Coated Art Paper
The standard for full-colour printed retail bags — smooth surface, accurate colour, takes lamination and foil well.
Kraft Paper
Brown or white kraft with a natural surface and good tear strength, usually printed in one or two colours.
Specialty & Textured Papers
Felt-marked and embossed stocks for prestige retail where the bag is part of the product experience.
FSC-Certified & Recycled Board
Certified or recycled-content stock with water-based inks for programmes with a defined materials policy.
Handle Materials
Paper rope, cotton cord and ribbon, with reinforcement patches specified against the intended load.
Base Reinforcement
An inserted board in the base for bottles, boxed goods and anything with corners.
Printing & Finishes
UV Offset Printing
Instant curing on the KBA 8+2 line, so heavy solids and dark grounds can be folded without set-off.
Matte & Soft-Touch Lamination
Changes the feel and protects dark artwork from scuffing during handling and transport.
Hot Foil Stamping
Metallic brand marks, most effective as a small element on a matte or textured ground.
Embossing & Debossing
Relief detail on the panel or the base fold, often used with foil on prestige retail bags.
Spot UV
Gloss varnish on selected elements for contrast against a matte laminated panel.
Die-Cut Windows & Shapes
Shaped tops, cut-outs and profile edges where the bag itself carries the brand silhouette.

What drives the cost
Handles and base construction drive more of this price than the printing does. A rope-handled bag sized for a bottle is a different product from a flat apparel bag, and it is the reinforcement — not the artwork — that separates them on cost.
Quantity
Most of the cost of a print job is set-up — plates, dies, make-ready, the first good sheet. Doubling a run rarely doubles the price, which is why it is worth asking for two or three volumes on the same quote.
Structure
A rigid box is formed, wrapped and often assembled by hand; a folding carton is die-cut and glued in one pass. Structure is usually the single biggest difference between two otherwise identical packs.
Material
Board grade and wrap stock. Specialty and textured papers cost more per sheet, but can replace a finishing pass — sometimes the cheaper route to the same effect.
Finishing passes
Each of foil, emboss, spot UV and lamination is a separate pass through a machine. Two effects cost roughly twice one, so the question is always which effect earns its place.
Tooling
Dies, emboss plates and foil blocks are one-off costs carried by the first order and reused on every repeat. Repeat runs of an approved specification are materially cheaper than the first.
Design & artwork
From an artwork check, through a dimensioned dieline and print-ready files, to a full concept package across a range — done by the factory that will make it.
Applications
Luxury & Fashion Retail
In-store carrier bags with lamination, foil and ribbon handles, sized across a range from accessories to apparel.
Beauty & Fragrance
Counter and gift-with-purchase bags produced to the same colour standard as the cartons they carry.
Spirits & Wine
Bottle carriers with reinforced bases, single and twin-bottle formats, matched to gift box programmes.
Events & Corporate
Conference, launch and corporate gifting bags, usually shorter runs with fast turnaround.
How it is made
Load & dimension review
What goes in the bag, and how heavy it is, decides paper weight, handle type and base construction.
Dieline & artwork
We issue the flat dieline showing panel, gusset and fold allowances so artwork lands correctly after forming.
Sampling
A made-up bag in 5–7 working days to judge handle feel and how the print sits after folding.
UV offset printing
Printing on the KBA 8+2 with Pantone colours matched to your physical reference.
Lamination & finishing
Lamination, foil stamping, embossing and spot UV before the sheet is cut and creased.
Forming & handle fitting
Automated forming and gluing, base reinforcement inserted, then handles attached and reinforced.
Inspection & export packing
Handle-pull and visual checks against the approved sample, then flat packing for container efficiency.

Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum order quantity for paper bags?
Carrier bags with complex finishes are typically 500–1,000 units. Simpler one- or two-colour kraft bags are more efficient at higher volumes, since most of the cost sits in set-up rather than material.
Which handle type should we choose?
Paper rope is the recyclable retail standard; cotton cord and ribbon give a softer, more premium hand-feel; die-cut handles avoid attachment entirely and pack flattest. Weight is the deciding factor — tell us the heaviest item the bag will carry.
Can you make the bag match our gift box or carton?
Yes. Rigid boxes, folding cartons, labels and bags are all produced on this site, so one Pantone reference and one approved sample set can govern the whole programme rather than three separate suppliers each interpreting the brand colour.
Do you offer recyclable or FSC-certified bags?
Yes. FSC-certified or recycled-content board with water-based inks and paper rope handles gives a mono-material paper bag. We are ISO 14001:2015 certified and also offer CEC Ten-Ring certified products.
How should the artwork be supplied?
On our dieline, in vector, with fonts outlined, 3 mm bleed and separate layers for foil, emboss and spot UV. Remember that the fold lines land where the dieline says, not where they look right on a flat proof — artwork crossing a fold needs checking on the made-up sample.
